What’s happening this week in Carteret County?

Here’s an event we look forward to every year on the beautiful Crystal Coast of Eastern North Carolina!

The 22nd Annual Art from the Heart Show – Located in Units 6 & 7 at the Morehead Plaza next to Art Escapes in Morehead City, this is a two week exhibit from February 17th through March 3rd, 2012. If you’re an art lover, the exhibition is a great time! It’s definitely worth supporting our local and regional artists from Carteret, Craven, Onslow and Pamlico Counties. View and buy original oils and acrylics, pastels and drawings, water media, mixed media, photography, computer-generated art; as well as glass, stone, fiber arts, jewelry, woodwork and other three-dimensional artwork. Proceeds benefit the artists and the Arts Council of Carteret County (ACCC). Admission is free. EXHIBITION HOURS: Mon – Wed 10 AM – 6 PM, Th – Sat 10 AM – 5 PM and Sun – 12 PM – 5 PM.

McCurdy’s Restaurant, located in Atlantic Beach on Moonlight Bay, has some of the best seafood on the Crystal Coast of Eastern North Carolina. We’re conveniently located near Emerald Isle, Moorehead City and Beaufort. In fact, wherever you are on the Crystal Coast, it’s worth the drive!

Our menu features, not only charcoal-grilled seafood, but also in-house aged steaks, pasta dishes, crab cakes, crab legs, ribs and much more. Our chefs features include some of the best seafood dishes around, but don’t take our word for it, give one of these local favorites a try:

CRAB STUFFED FLOUNDER Fresh flounder stuffed with our lump crab stuffing then finished with shrimp in a lemon scented cream sauce, with our vegetable medley and rice pilaf.

BLACK & WHITE SESAME SEARED TUNA Fresh local yellow-fin tuna coated in sesame seeds and seared to temperature in sesame oil, served with our sesame soy dressing, pickled ginger and wasabi, served with root beer sweet potato mash and our asian slaw.

SHRIMP & GRITS Sautéed shrimp, mushrooms, bacon, tomato & scallion served over cheesy grits.

SHRIMP & SCALLOP CARBONARA Fresh sea scallops & shrimp sautéed with house-made bacon, sundried tomatoes, shitake mushrooms, and onions in a cream sauce served over penne pasta.

McCurdy’s is gearing up for our re-open on February 29th!

McCurdy’s Restaurant has been keeping busy throughout the holidays with our “sister restaurant” in Pennsylvania… We’ve been working hard on new menu items and can’t wait to introduce some of them here on the Crystal Coast.

We know that we’re keeping the suspense going, but it’s going to be worth it once we re-open McCurdy’s Restaurant. We hope you’ll join us too! We’ve been your neighborhood restaurant in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina since 2006. Our awesome owners, Ann McCurdy Kolenick and Dan Kolenick, have carried out their vision to perfection since then, catering to locals and visitors alike. You can count on the fact that we’ll be kicking off the new year right. 2012 is going to be a great one!

McCurdy’s Restaurant hopes everyone has a great time at the Carolina Chocolate Festival this weekend!

The 10th Annual Carolina Chocolate Festival is a decadent event being held at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City on February 4th and 5th, 2012.

Times: Saturday, 9Am to 6PM and Sunday 10 AM to 3PM.

With vendors from all over North Carolina, The Chocolate Festival provides a wide variety of delicious chocolate desserts, such as chocolate cakes, tortes, chocolate bars, ice cream, fudge and more! Sample your favorite chocolate treats, and don’t forget to pick up Valentine’s Day presents for your loved ones!!
